Murat SEZGİN

Murat Sezgin was born in 1967 in Ankara. He received his primary and secondary education from Ankara İnönü Lisesi and he earned a bachelor’s degree in economy from the Faculty of Political Sciences of Ankara University and a master’s degree from Boston University. Sezgin began his professional career with the Tax Inspectors Boards of the Ministry of Finance as an assistant tax inspector in 1989. He was promoted to tax inspector in 1992 and chief tax inspector in 2002.

Sezgin has conducted studies and research on USA Revenue Administration at the San Diego State University and has given lectures and seminars on the field of management at the Department of Economy of Atılım University. As a recognized expert on tax and revenue issues, Sezgin was appointed to the Parliamentary Investigation Committee and several other boards, councils and committees and served as the Special Advisor of the Minister of National Education.

He was appointed as Department Head of the Ministry of Finance General Directorate of Revenues in 2003 and held this position at the Revenue Administration until 2008.

Within the scope of the International Tax Training programs he gave lectures and conferences in Hungary and elsewhere in the world to specialists from OECD member states. He served in the delegation to the OECD in Paris as the representative of the Ministry of Finance on the field of indirect taxation and participated in working groups convened in several countries such as Germany, Netherlands, and Finland as a representative of the Ministry of Finance. Sezgin also took part in the Turkish delegation for the European Union accession negotiations and participated as a representative of the Ministry of Finance in the working groups and other bodies of the World Trade Organization (WTO) established in Geneva.

Murat Sezgin is married and has one child. He is a member of the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Political Sciences, Ankara University and a Congress member of the Fenerbahçe Sports Club and currently serving as board member of various Mesa Holding group companies.
